A Little More Time in Door County: Late-Fall & Cozy Holiday Stays
Here at the Thorp House Inn & Cottages, we still have openings for late-October & November, aka the perfect opportunities to visit during the shoulder season, and holidays! We’re also looking ahead to our Progressive Dinner events, holiday gift giving, and that wonderful stretch between Christmas and New Year’s.
If another Door County visit has been on your mind, here are a few reasons to make it happen...
There’s Still Time In October
Not quite ready to say goodbye to autumn? Neither are we.
Late October offers a chance to enjoy the quieter side of the season. Depending on the weather, you might catch lingering fall color, head out for a refreshing walk in Peninsula State Park, or spend an afternoon browsing in Fish Creek. And when the breeze picks up, it’s a good excuse to stop somewhere warm for a leisurely meal.
We have several late-October openings in both our suites and cottages, including stays beginning October 25. Wren Cottage currently has availability October 25–31, while Lark Cottage is available October 25–29. Several suites also have openings during that final full week of the month.
Whether you’re hoping for a quick overnight escape or a few unhurried days away, there may still be a stay that fits your calendar.
November: Door County at a Different Pace
If you’ve only experienced Door County during the busy summer and fall months, November is worth getting to know.
This is the season for a less hurried visit. Take a walk along the water, explore a trail, browse the shops that remain open, or settle in over a meal without trying to squeeze too much into the day. With the leaves thinning, the shoreline and woodland views take on a different kind of beauty.
A November trip doesn’t need a full itinerary. Sometimes the best plan is simply to step away from your usual routine and leave room for whatever the day brings.
Seasonal hours do vary, so we recommend checking with your favorite restaurants, shops, and attractions before heading out. A little planning makes it easier to relax once you arrive.
Make a Date for a Progressive Dinner Getaway
Looking for a reason to put a winter visit on the calendar? Our Progressive Dinner events are a lovely place to start.
Events are scheduled for the first three weekends in December and January 8th–9th. They offer an opportunity to make dinner part of a special Door County stay, whether you’re planning time together as a couple or coordinating a visit with friends. Enjoy a roaring fire, cocktails, and hors d'oeuvres before heading over to the White Gull for a sit-down dinner.
Want to book your spot? Visit www.thorphouseinn.com to book your stay directly, as well as your seat at the table for the Progressive Dinners. Have any questions or issues? Please contact us to confirm event and lodging availability for your preferred dates; we’re happy to help you plan your visit.

Give Them Something to Look Forward To
Some of the nicest gifts don’t need a place on a shelf.
A Thorp House Inn & Cottages gift certificate gives someone the chance to look forward to time away: a return to a favorite destination, a celebration together, or a much-needed break from everyday life.
It’s a thoughtful choice for the Door County enthusiast on your list, or someone you’ve been encouraging to experience the peninsula for the first time.
If you’re getting a head start on holiday shopping, contact us to arrange a gift certificate purchase. A future getaway might be just the gift you’ve been looking for.
Spend the Days Between Christmas and New Year’s in Door County
Once the presents have been opened and the holiday gatherings begin to wind down, there’s a little pocket of time that can feel especially well-suited to getting away.
The days between Christmas and New Year’s are a wonderful opportunity to enjoy Door County’s winter pace. Bundle up for a walk, make plans for a good dinner, and leave yourself time to do very little at all. If snow arrives, it adds another layer of beauty, but a quiet winter escape doesn’t depend on a snowy forecast.
Whether you’re looking for a peaceful pause after Christmas or a change of scenery before the new year, we’d love to help you explore the possibilities. Contact us for current suite and cottage availability between Christmas and New Year’s. Holiday dates are worth planning ahead for, especially if you have a favorite accommodation in mind.
We’d Love to Welcome You
A last taste of October, a quiet November weekend, a Progressive Dinner getaway, or a holiday stay, there are still so many ways to enjoy Door County in the months ahead.
Visit Thorp House Inn & Cottages to plan your stay, or get in touch with questions about dates, events, and gift certificates.
We hope to see you in Fish Creek soon.
